100 Days of Ties: Day 40: Tartan / Corduroy / Wharf

Jacket, Tie: J. Crew / Shirt: Wharf

Decided to not be at the mercy of the bus today in favor of getting an extra hour of sleep and feeling the freedom yet again of the open road. One good thing about leaving a bit later than usual today was that the world got a chance to heat up a little more than how it feels at 5AM. Donned the Crew corduroy jacket today for the first time this season. I like the fit. PLUS, along with the Rugger toggle, I was sent a Wharf’s “The Two” button down. Top notch fit and feel. Attire aside: as I was walking from the parking garage this AM, I saw a murdered out Tesla pull in (as murdered out as those cars can be). It parked, the driver opened the door, got out, and was dressed head to toe in a black leather race suit complete with full black race helment, visor closed. He walked past me at a fast rate and continued on. Not removing the helmet and carrying nothing…

What an odd way to start my Friday.

Get Stiff: The Hill Side Waxed Canvas Tie

Yesterday was a good day. Not only did I kick some extreme ass at work but the Giants won game one, the Nuggets won their season opener against the Jazz, my lady and I had a delicious grilled dinner (yeah, I grill despite the temperature) complete with her famous quinua, and I came into a bit of unforeseen money. But to add even more icing to the proverbial cake that was yesterday, I got a package delivered to me as I worked diligently at my desk containing three choice items, one being Hill Side’s Waxed Canvas Tie. 100 Days of Ties: Day 39: Tying up a Hill Side Tie while the world sleeps

Tie: Hill Side / Jacket: Gant Rugger / Shirt: Modern Amusement / Belt: Tanner Goods / Dishes: Dirty

As the Autumn season pushes on and the days get shorter and shorter, it get tougher and tougher to get up and get going in the mornings. My girlfriend doesn’t know how I do it, but I do. I pry myself from the warm sheets under the heavy comforter while the rest of the world, save for the early morning anchors and the other Denver to Boulder commuters sleep. I am dedicated to making it in on time (read: early) to work after picking out the ensemble for the day. And therein lies a bit of a dilemma…

That early in the morning, as I walk to the bus station, it is colder than any other point in the day except when the sun once again sets in the eve. I don the heavy peacoat or, today, the Gant Rugger Toggle (review to come, btw), scarf, knit cap, gloves, etc, and proceed on my 20-25 minute walk downtown. Thing is, as the day grinds on, the weather warms and I find myself not needing the heavy coats as I go out to lunch, but leaving the office in just a shirt is too cold. Not that I am whining in any way as sporting the jacket and being TOO warm is always better than being TOO cold. I am just saying, it’s tough to plan accordingly. Especially out here in the mile high… you never know WHAT the hell you’ll get.

100 Days of Ties: Day 38: Buffalo Check and Bling

Tie, Sweater, Pants: J. Crew / Peacoat: H&M / Scarf: Pierre Cardin / Rims: 20's....okay they 10's but I keep em clean

Alright so I will admit that isn’t my rig in today’s shot. And as I set up the camera for the self-timed goodness, I didn’t even notice this great white beast with some chromed-out footwear (yeah I am calling rims footwear for now), however after the 10 seconds commenced and I reviewed the shot, I opted to not take a second. I mean, why would I? I nailed the slightly-to-the-left look and captured a car in Boulder that isn’t a Prius….Plus it was around 35 degrees or so, and I was in no mood to stand outside any longer. But because today’s tie is making its debut on the 100 Days and you cannot see it for sh*t here, I took another closeup after getting to my desk and cranking away on the daily duties.

WANT: L.L. Bean Signature Duck Hunting Coat, or, I should never have opened the catalog.

Got home last night from work and found the Bean Signature catalog on my mail/breakfast/lunch/dinner/storer-of-various-things table and began to thumb through it. What started just a little bit ago, the Signature line has some choice items, a few of which I have the pleasure of owning.
