100 Days of Ties: Day 54: Where the Wild Things Are

Tie: Graham Withers / Shirt: J. Crew / Sweater: Lands' End Canvas / Toys: A Welcomed Distraction to Real Life

I’m keeping it short and sweet today as it hasn’t been the best start to what is actually a quite pleasant (weather-wise) Thursday. No sleep + cutting my hand + a perpetual feeling of nausea since rising from bed this morning = Not an ideal fourth day of the week. Even with the inclusion of playing with my WTWTA toys this AM, absolutely KILLING the LA Times crossword, managing to still look good (IMHO), and trying to calm down on the bus listening to Sigur Ros and Explosions in the Sky, I do not have high hopes for the day. But you play the hand you’re dealt, and I will grab whatever life throws at me today by the horns and wrestle that business to the ground.

Standard "on the bus" closeup. Blurry, yes, but I got that dude in the background and it was too funny NOT to post up.

Got this nice message last night: "Hello You are adorable. I love your blog. I unfortunately do not wear ties but i work with some amazingly well dressed men who do... This is a sneaky pic of my coworker Roger. He's far too shy to submit pics on his own. Black Label sportcoat/ Ralph Lauren "high society" tie/ Thomas Pink shirt/ Zegna pocket square. Today's theme is purple if you couldn't tell."

Drake Land / givemeindiana.tumblr.com - Tried to go on a fall kick with a heavy, nubby, wool tie from Brittsport and brown herringbone pants from Gap. Heavy jacket day, no way around it. Filson and gloves.

Sam Jacobs / EatingEverywhere.com - Keep on Rockin’ in the Free World! Tie – Polo Ralph Lauren / Shirt & Vest – J.Crew / Jeans – Levis 501 / Watch – Tissot / Guitar – Epiphone / Cat - Fitz

Ben Dahl - Polo - Croft & Barrow Tie - Lands End Canvas Hooded Sweater - Brooklyn Industries Mustache - Brandon Flowers in progress Dude in background - Coworker #2

thisfits.tumblr.com - For whatever reason, I've gone from wearing a tie once a week to every day this week, so far. Shirt - J. Crew Outlet/Tie - eBay/Cardigan - Lands' End Canvas/Harris Tweed Blazer - eBay/Moustache - Lando Calrissian. Maybe?

Ryan Sumner / DenimDiary.net - penguin vest, woven, selvedge raw denim (4 years 4 washes), redwing work boots, vintage tie

Brent / dimplefourinhand.wordpress.com - Charles Tyrwhitt shirt, Paul Fredrick tie, Camelhair sportcoat from some unknown maker.

Sabir M. Peele / Twitter.com/MensStylePro215 - tie by Merona (holla at target) and Pocket Square by Merona

David / thenaturalaristocrat.blogspot.com / Vintage no-label bow tie / Shirt & Blazer by Brooks Brothers / Pocket Square by Ralph Lauren / Jeans by Earnest Sewn / Allen Edmonds tassle loafers below

Some fresh faces. Nice to see. And, I have to say, Sam killed it today, earing him a tie from my personal collection.

Cheers all. Loving the couples pictures, btw. Keep it up with the originality. I am in talks with a few more companies who want to send a few ties this-a-way, and I will in turn send them your way.

Submit your pictures.

  1. Man … hope the rest of your day goes better than your morning. Heal up. Thanks again for doing this.

  2. Thanks bro! Tomorrow I’ll be jamming with Matthew McConaughey. I believe he plans on bringing over his congas. Might be NSFW.

  3. sigur ros and explosions in the sky make any day better. Jonsi’s GO would add a little sunnyshine to those melodies, too… 🙂 as a style maven, i wonder if you’ve seen my dear hair sorceress’s blog at http://www.freshhex.com? it’s haute haute haute.

  4. So i made my own site now. Obviously I am up at 4 am posting things.
