Astute at the desk reading Jimmy Buffett lyrics.
I don’t really care how hokey people think Jimmy Buffett is. I have always liked his catchy feel-good tunes. Hell, I’ve even had a cheeseburger in paradise… Or so, up until just recently, I thought I had. From Wiki: According to Buffett’s Margaritaville web site, the myth of the “cheeseburger in paradise” was inspired by a boat journey Buffett once took in the Caribbean. Buffett states that while subsisting on canned food and peanut butter, he envisioned eating a “piping hot cheeseburger”. He reports that upon finally arriving in Road Town, Tortola, British Virgin Islands, he was surprised to find a restaurant serving American cheeseburgers.
Feel Good Mustached Man
All the while I thought the one I had in Cabbage Key was the famous meat. Regardless, the burger I had was that good. Heaven on Earth with an onion slice good. I liked mine with french fried potatos and a big kosher pickle. However, I was only 13 so no cold draft beer. Only Coke. Which worked fine as well. …Now back to dreaming of warm beaches, bikini girls, boat drinks and writing island-inspired jams… while it’s 7 degrees outside my window.
Tie: the Hill Side / Pants: Uniqlo / Jacket: Gant Rugger (obviously) HOOD UP! / Bag, Cardigan (unseen): Lands' End Canvas / Shirt: J. Crew
Going on about 1 1/2 hours of sleep last night and awaking to snow fall, this morning saw it tough as hell to get out from under the covers. But dammit, son, I got a job to do, and if Eli has taught me anything, it’s never stop moving. Like a shark… Like a shark wearing a Paddington Bear jacket courtesy of Wharf and Gant Rugger. So yes, somehow I rose, geared up, threw on my Hill Side waxed canvas, and trekked through the Denver snow to the 6:38AM bus. I even contemplated taking the later, 7:38, but I opted to stick with the reg. It was peaceful this morning though, and I was able to catch a few Z’s on le bus. Now on my 6th cup of coffee, I can say that I am raring to go. The only thing is I need a crowbar to pry my jaw apart….
But with this falling snow, all I can think about is being at my Breckenridge retreat, sitting by a roaring fire, playing guitar, and, I don’t know, sipping on a margarita…? I am out to prove they are delicious anytime…
PS – I am really amped on today’s submissions…
Jacket: Animal Command / Pants: Uniqlo / Sweater, Tie, Bag: Lands' End Canvas / Shirt: H&M / Parking Garage: One way
Today marked one of the first of the “cold” morning of the season. Yeah a few weeks back I donned the Animal Command as the frigid temperature pre 6AM deemed it necessary, but today was the first time I didn’t work up a sweat in it on the walk to the bus. Today also marked the first time I took a gander in my closet and was sort of turned off by anything J. Crew. I used to be the biggest fanboy/posterchild for them. Weird how when you open yourself up to new brands, you find better fits, more options, and all at somewhat better prices…depending. For instance, today’s tie comes courtesy of the Lands’ End Canvas. I dig the scorpions in a huge way:
So with that said, it seems yesterday’s Crew / button post gathered a few comments. I have sent the post along to the heads at J. Crew. Now we wait. But in the meantime, if you have a story to add about their product that you MAY like to see rectified (fingers crossed), feel free to share. It may take an army, but I think we need to get something done here…
Shirt, sweater, tie: J. Crew / Bag: Lands' End Canvas (aka my new fave) / Jacket: Gant Rugger Toggler
In my rushed sleep-hangover stupor this morning, I put very little thought into today’s ensemble, grabbing a random shirt, tie, and sweater. And wouldn’t you know it? All items are J. Crew. The sweater is still among my fave based on color and fit in particular, but I would be lying if I said that I didn’t spend a good deal of last night starting a post on my recent disappointment with said brand… Don’t get me wrong, I still like what Crew has to offer, and I think, that after seeing some of the photos from their upcoming collection, they still got game, I also think that when a brand fails to perform, they should also be notified. And as J. Crew has proven less than responsive cvia email and social networks, I must use my other outlet to highlight the issues. Post to come…
I regularly take trips to NYC/CHI for the sole purpose of going to H&M…Of course the company I go to visit, too, is always a welcome addition to the journey. I realized that i can no go to LA for the same reason, as I got a buddy that lives out there. But seriously. What’s the deal with the reasonably-priced clothing giant A) not having a Denver location and B) not having a US online store? This jetsetting is taking its toll. I should go for broke and take the ultimate trip to Japan just to shop. Maybe rub elbows with the likes of Kate Perry when she performs at H&M Harajuku for the Designers Against Aids campaign. Damn…Kate Perry…Smokin….
